OVERVIEW & HISTORICAL CONTEXT
The official Japanese theatrical cinema program sold at movie theaters across Japan starting March 11, 1984.

The two featurettes directed by Hayao Miyazaki ("The Blue Carbuncle" and "Treasure Under the Sea") were paired as a simultaneous double-feature roadshow release alongside Miyazaki's landmark animated feature "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" (風の谷のナウシカ). This marked the first public release of the animated "Sherlock Hound" material following prolonged legal disputes with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's estate.
